Benson Boone’s Friday night concert in Brisbane ended with something special: a birthday wish fulfilled.
Kenzie Riddle had just turned 13, and her wish was to sing “Beautiful Things” with her favorite artist. On November 6, at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre, Benson invited her onstage to do exactly that.
Kenzie, who is facing cancer for the second time, had help getting her message to Benson. She and her friends made a video with local singer-songwriter Fergus Hogan after one of her teachers connected them. The video took off on Instagram, bringing her wish to a much bigger audience.
“I love his energy most of all, he is just super cool,” Kenzie told ABC News. She’s also a fan of his signature backflips.
At the opening show of his Australian Wanted Man tour, Benson welcomed Kenzie for the finale. Together, they sang “Beautiful Things”—turning a song she loves into a memory of her own.
Happy birthday, Kenzie. We’re cheering you on.
