Wow this is amazing! I would always listen to this countdown on the radio back in the day! Especially between 1984-1988, I would tune in every weeked and write down the whole Top 25 on notebook paper. I don't think I've listened to Rick Dees Top 40 since maybe 1991 or so! I didn't even know he still has his show!
I recently became interested in tracking the charts again, but on the radio, all I hear is Ryan Seacrest's American Top 40. I remember back in the '80s, Dees sounded so cool and fresh when compared to Casey Kasem, who was the AT40 host at the time. Now I guess people feel that Ryan is young and cool compared to Rick Dees. Do radio stations still air Rick Dees Top 40? If so, that makes me one happy guy....damn I feel like a teen again!
Back then , I used to look forward to listening to the radio just to hear the weekly chart (I wasn't a subscriber to Billboard or Radio & Records magazine of course.) It's amazing how things have changed...now one can just go online and look at the chart within seconds.
Kudos to Dees for posting these old shows on the website!
That's pro'lly why Bryan named that song Summer of '69--he wasn't workin' at no damn drive-in at 9 years old! (If he was, then investigate Canada's child labor laws LOL.)

Is that supposed to imply that 69 = Love? I've actually never done 69 with anyone I love.
