Scorsese!
One of the best moments from Sunday’s 2012 Academy Awards came when “Bridesmaids” stars Melissa McCarthy and Rose Byrne continued their original award season drinking game in front of the man who inspired it — Martin Scorsese.
A quick refresher: The ladies joked at this year’s SAG Awards that they’d come up with a drinking game on-set where you had to take a sip or chug of alcohol whenever someone said the name of famed director Martin Scorsese.
It was Best Supporting Actress nominee Melissa McCarthy and Rose Byrne who were on point for the joke tonight, though it’s unclear who shouted “Scorsese!” from the audience. I’d love to think that it was a random audience member, but since they did have their mini bottles of Grey Goose tucked in their bosoms, it obviously was set up.
The best part of this callback was seeing Marty’s face. He obviously hadn’t been filled in on the joke, so when the camera cut to him he looked absolutely flabbergasted but laughed along with it.
