Uncle Rigdon's Southern Yeast Rolls
Here's where you'll get a little piece of Southern goodness in every bite!
Yields: 1½ dozen amazing rolls!
Prep Time: 4 hours
Cook Time: 10-15 minutes
INGREDIENTS
½ Cup Crisco oil
½ cup boiling water
1 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup sugar
½ cup lukewarm water
1 package dry yeast
3 cups all-purpose flour
DIRECTIONS
Mix:
½ Cup Crisco oil
½ cup boiling water
1 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup sugar
Mix:
½ cup lukewarm water
1 package dry yeast
Dissolve, then pour into oil mixture above.
Add one large beaten egg and mix.
Add:
3 cups all-purpose flour and form into a ball
Lightly Flour this ball and put into a bowl.
Next:
Let the "flour-ball" Rise for 2 hours. Shake the bowl so the ball drops down in size somewhat, then pinch off 3 pieces for each muffin, rolling each into little balls. Place the 3 balls in single well in a well-greased muffin pan. (Each muffin well has 3 balls of pastry.) Let rise 2 hours.
Bake at 400 for 10-15 minutes.
