Cook Time: 30 minutes

INGREDIENTS

One unbaked pie shell (use The Best Dees Basic Pie Crust
1 cup dairy sour cream
3 eggs beaten
Date Bars
3 Tablespoons butter, melted
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup dates, cut in pieces
1/2 cup chopped pecans

Bourbon Sauce

1 cup granulated sugar
6 tablespoons butter, melted
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 tablespoon (or more!) Bourbon
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 tablespoon white corn syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla

DIRECTIONS

Date Bars

Prepare pie crust following directions for the Best Dees Basic Pie Crust.

While the crust is chilling, combine sour cream, eggs, butter, sugar and salt, and cinnamon in a bowl. Mix well.

Add dates and chopped pecans to the mixture, incorporating thoroughly.

Put pie crust into a regular pie plate, or into a 9x9 rectangular baking dish (approximately the same size as a pie shell). Side note: You also can use a smaller baking container such as an 8x8 Pyrex baking dish, to make the bars thicker.)

Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes, or until center is done, but still a bit moist. Serve with bourbon sauce and/or vanilla ice cream.

Bourbon Sauce
In a sauce pan mix all ingredients. Bring to a boil for 1 minute. Serve warm, on the side.

Ohhhhh Mama!!!
