Rick's Old Fashioned Apple Pie
Imagine this: The aroma of apples and cinnamon coming from Grandma's kitchen...you get the picture.
Yields: One 9-inch pie
Prep Time: 25 minutes
Cook Time: 30-40 minutes
INGREDIENTS
CRUST:
1 double crust pie crust shell made with Better Crocker Pie Crust Mix. Follow mix instructions, adding 3 Tablespoons real butter to the box recipe instructions.
APPLE MIXTURE:
1 cup sugar
3/4 cup light brown sugar
4 Tablespoons flour
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon salt
6 or 7 sliced and peeled apples
4 Tablespoons butter
2 Tablespoons vanilla extract
DIRECTIONS
Combine sugars, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Mix lightly, then add the apples. Melt butter, then add the butter into the mix. Put butter, sugars, and apples in a saucepan and cook at medium-low heat for about 10-12 minutes to pre-soften the apples. Remove from stove and mix with fork or spoon. Pour mixture into the pie shell, and flute the edges of the pie shell. Either cover the pie with a full pastry second crust, or lattice-work crust.
Bake at 350 deesgrees for 30-40 minutes, until crust is brown and the apples are tender.
