Johnny Depp’s Five Los Angeles Penthouses Could Be Yours For $12.78 Million
A look at the home of actor Johnny Depp, which is in downtown LA and currently for sale.
In Eastern Columbia Building, the five adjacent penthouses compose 11,500 square feet with nine bedrooms and 14 bathrooms. Four units have two bedrooms each, and the last unit has one bedroom.
Kevin Dees of Partners Trust, the real estate agency, explained that Depp added doorways to connect three units together—using them as entertaining spaces. The remaining two units served as an art studio and a guest suite. Dees explained that the condos can easily be disconnected and sold separately. The prices for individual units remain unspecified.
After the building completed renovations in 2007, Depp paid $7.2 million for the five penthouses—so he’ll earn a $5.58 million profit if they sell. The building, known for its trademark four-sided clock tower, features fluted paneling and intricately-carved terra cotta in the front.
The décor doesn’t shy away from vibrant colors, and one wall even features a mural by the Brazilian street artists Os Gemeos. In addition, most walls are cluttered (or almost collaged) with framed abstract pieces. Some parlors and lounges expose red and white bricks, while many bathrooms are lined with exotic wallpaper. Each kitchen includes advanced appliances, but Depp has added plush upholstery, Moroccan rugs, and more avante-garde art to each dining space.
Across five penthouses, the spread offers several private terraces, as well as direct access to the stunning sky deck—which includes a swimming pool, spa, lounge area, outdoor fireplace, and fitness studio.
These five penthouses are just a small portion of Depp’s real estate treasure. This past July, Depp re-listed his 37-acre French village for $55 million (more than double its original asking price). The actor also owns a private island in the Bahamas, which he acquired in 2004 for $3.6 million. Playing Jack Sparrow of the Caribbean must’ve given him a fondness for the area.
