What Triggered Demi's Meltdown?
Demi Moore's downward spiral may have accelerated with the death of her longtime Alcoholics Anonymous sponsor. The actress was visibly distraught at the Cape Cod, Mass. funeral in December for 70-year-old Pattsy Rugg, a renowned substance abuse counselor.
Rugg had become a mother figure of sorts for Moore, suggests Cape Cod Today, which reports that the star once introduced her as "mom."
A convulsing Moore, who was rushed to Sherman Oaks Hospital Monday after reportedly sniffing whip-its, a low-rent party drug, was said Thursday to have been released. The actress was holding a birthday party for friend Heather Perry and was acting "pretty hyper" all night, sources revealed.
It was further reported that Moore was doing whippets - bursts of nitrous oxide, which triggered a seizure. Today news emerged that Demi also took Adderall prior to the 911 call made.
A source says: "Demi has been taking Adderall and drinking energy drinks and starving herself and those are some of the serious causes that led her to collapse on Monday night."
The insider continued that Demi is often "jacked up" on Adderall and the fact she has not been eating food has been a problem for about a year.
It was not clear whether Moore was back at her Beverly Hills home or whether she was off to a treatment center Thursday. Moore's publicist had no comment.
With the disintegration of her marriage last year to Ashton Kutcher, the star shed weight as her demons seemed to resurface. "Demi was scary skinny, everyone talks about that," a friend who socialized with Moore revealed. "She was jumpy, jumpy, jumpy."
Judging by the countless photographs taken of Demi Moore in the past four months, it was plain to see she was not well. Her body frame was alarmingly skinny and she looked gaunt. Her divorce from Ashton Kutcher has sent her into a psychological tailspin resulting in wild behavior and being linked with a younger male model. The public has essentially been watching Demi fall apart inside as she copes with the fallout of her six-year marriage.
Demi issued a statement the other day thanking her family and friends for their support and looks forward to getting back to her daily life.
We do wish these two well, and especially want Demi to get better!
