Rick Dees Signed for National Syndication
January 19, 2010 - Rick Dees had made a new syndication deal with Debut Broadcasting's Impact Radio Networks for broadcast and online content. The agreement with Dees Entertainment will offer the '80s and '90s archive of Rick Dees Weekly Top 40 and a new Teen Top Twenty hosted by Dees' son, Kevin Dees. Content for station sites will include streaming channels, podcasts, and mobile apps.
The deal comes as Debut announces that it has completed major steps in its reorganization, reducing its debt by eliminating two debt facilities in favor of a new, long-term facility with Crestmark Bank. Debut also closed on a new, revised debt facility that gives Remington Partners a larger stake in the company.
Debut CEO Steven Ludwig said of the Remington agreement, "That modification is the last major element of the debt re-structuring, and, along with other recent board actions, essentially marks successful completion of the restructuring process, allowing us to move forward in a lot of other areas in coming weeks."
Ludwig said Debut will continue to pursue expansion; he said, "There are potentially accretive acquisitions available, and we are exploring the best ways to deploy the new capital available." With recent bankruptcies in radio, he said, "Management's analysis is that there is a short window where prices have swung too far down, based on short-term distress and the recent lack of access to capital, and acquisition in this environment has the potential to create exceptional value for shareholders over the next three-five years."
Impact has about 1,400 U.S. and Canadian customers for its programming and related services.
