Charlie Sheen's Mercedes Found Crashed Off L.A. Cliff
Charlie Sheen had a sense of humor Friday, after his Mercedes was found at the bottom of a 100-foot cliff in Sherman Oaks, California.
"It was nice to have police come to my house and for once and I didn't have to leave with them," he told reporters.
Officer Bruce Borihanh says LAPD got a 911 report at around 4 a.m. from OnStar that a car was down a cliff off Mulholland Drive, that air bags had been deployed, and relayed the physical location of the car. At about the same time, Sheen called to report that his car had been stolen, as OnStar had also called him at his home. A search of the area found no evidence that anybody was in the car when it went over the edge. It's being treated as an auto theft.
The car, a Mercedes four-door sedan, was found 300 feet to 400 feet down near the 13300 block of Mulholland Drive in Beverly Crest, said LAPD Det. Bill Bustos.
Police and fire crews found the car badly damaged just after 4 a.m., but no one was found in or around it. A search was ongoing.
Nothing else from Sheen's home was reported stolen, Borihanh said. The Mercedes was likely taken before the burglary was reported, Borihanh said.
Updated at 8:17 a.m.: A law enforcement source familiar with the investigation says that based on a preliminary review, it appears Sheen’s car was stolen after the actor left it in the open garage with the keys inside.
What a great promo for OnStar!!!!
